The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is the government’s portal that contains the list and details about the Indian incorporated companies. The portal maintains detail of all types of companies including Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs). On the portal, you can check a company’s registration number, date of incorporation, directors, type of the company, etc. 

Checking registration details of a company on MCA Website

The details can be checked on the MCA database regarding the registered entity or about a Private Limited Company or Limited Company or One Person Company for which you are applying for the name approval. You will find a search page on the MCA site, initiate your search by entering the partial or complete name of the company to check the details of the company registration.

Once you put in the name of the entity and if it matches the search query, then the results are displayed, and from there you can choose the right entity for which you are seeking the information. If you don’t find the name of the entity in the search box, then “No matches found” reflects on the site.

What details you can find on the MCA website?

You can find the following data on the MCA website:

• Corporate Identification Number (CIN)
• Name of the entity 
• Registration Number of the company
• ROC details
• Company details whether it is limited by shares/ limited by the guarantee/ or an unlimited company
• Details about Indian Government Company or Non-Governmental Company
• Type of Company whether Public Company or Private Company
• Details about authorized capital 
• Paid-up Capital of the Company
• Date of incorporation of the company
• Other details- Address, Email
• The listing status of the company
• Date of the Balance Sheet, etc.

What you should check?

You must check the following details while applying for registration:-

• Check details regarding prohibited name for the proposed company: It must be ensured that the name that you have selected for your proposed company does not contain any prohibited word as provisioned under Section 4(2) & (3) of Companies Act, 2013 read with Rule 8 of the Companies (Incorporation) Rules, 2014. Make sure that you comply with the requisite provisions.
• Check details regarding trademark for your proposed company name: You must conduct the trademark search to make sure that the proposed name of your company is not in violation of the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, otherwise, the trademark shall be liable to be rejected.
• Block a domain name for your company: Once the registration of your company’s name is approved you should get your domain name registered. This will help you to get the desired domain name for building your business website.

How to check company registration status?

• You need to go to the MCA site
• Then click on the MCA services option and in the drop-down box, you will find the option of View Company/LLP.
  • Mention the company name in the option Company/LLP Name and then click the search button.
  • The names of the companies with the submitted letters will then be reflected on the site. 
  • Opt. for the desired Company Name link or you may also copy the CIN.

• If the CIN is known to you then add the complete CIN to the column- Company CIN/FCRN/LLPIN
• • Mention the company’s CIN. Enter the mentioned captcha code and then click on submit option.
  • You can search for CIN by choosing the search option beside Company/LLP Name field.

Charges Registered on a Company

‘Charges registered on a company’ may be defined as an interest or right that can be obtained by a lender or creditor in the property of the company in the way of security to ensure that the company shall pay its debt. Charges are raised when the Company raises a bank loan or seeks financial assistance from financial institutions.
